Font - "I Lied" Medium I just have to write about this. I was chilling when a typical red- neck looking young man comes in, asking for a room for two nights. I start logging on to my system as we laugh about the front door being a little wonky, when I asked the fateful question that always gets me s on- do you live in town? It never fails to piss people off, on this site or off, that my bosses don't rent to locals. If you have read any of my stories, you'd know why - I seem to be the Cr head Whi

Font - I stopped typing, knowing I was about to get my handed to me. My least favorite part of the job is telling locals they can't stay here. I can deal with the addicts and the creepy men, but I can't stand turning people away because they always try to fight me, like I have a personal vendetta against them and was waiting my whole life to piss them off. "I'm sorry, but I cannot rent to you," I report. "The hotel across the parking lot does, though."

Font - The guy stopped laughing. "You seriously can't give me a room?" I could now tell that this was going to be a fight. "No, it's against the rules." "Well, I don't live here. My ID is from Wisconsin or Michigan," he stammered. At this point, a woman his age with matted hair walks in, and he starts complaining to her about it, when he gets this bright idea. "She has a different state ID, so you can use hers."

Font - "If that's so, she can stay here, but you're not allowed in here." Especially with the door perpetually open, I began to feel cornered. Even if she had a different ID, I wasn't going to rent to her. She'd just let him in to stay in her room, and I already had a sneaking suspicion that these folks shouldn't be rented to.

Font - "But I have a different ID than [this city]," he protested, not that I cared. Rules were rules, and especially now that he was arguing me about something I couldn't control, I was getting annoyed. I wouldn't rent to him, no matter what. I don't tolerate liars. If they're dishonest from the get-go, I couldn't trust them around my other guests.

Font - I raised my eyebrows. "You just told me you lived here." "Yeah, I lied, can I have a room now?" I had a feeling I was arguing with a drunk man. There's no way he was that stupid. "I'm not going to rent to you because you lied to me."

Font - They left, saying s things about me to each other. As if I was doing this to slight them. Did they seriously think I'd relent to their bullying and rent them a room? He looked okay-ish, but that woman he was with... there was something off about her. Her hair was way too matted to just be poor hygiene. They probably were a couple of young people who needed a room. I don't care. I am NOT letting locals in, especially since we are still being slandered by locals online by people who have ne

Font - It's kind of cool being acting manager, but I'd rather not deal with it at all. I just came back from a kind-of vacation, and I'm burnt out. I don't take any bulls anymore. Just a crabby night auditor.

Font - Pehrgryn 5 hr. ago Does your place have a sign that says "no locals" or something? I've always found that established policy shuts people down, but that's from working IT. I've never worked in a hotel, and very rarely have a need to stay in one.

Font - crabdancer64 OP +3 - 5 hr. ago No, it doesn't. But right before Valentine's Day, the news said that almost all hotels in my town now refuse locals. Apparently only a handful accept locals now. Would be great if we had a sign so I can blame something physical. It is literally out of my control.

Font - Poldaran +4.4 hr. ago Did they seriously think I'd relent to their bullying and rent them a room? Many of them do actually believe that. I don't take any bulls anymore. Just a crabby night auditor. As it probably should be, as sad as it is to say that. :P

Font - Guilty_Ambassador644 4 hr. ago We aren't suppose to rent to locals either where I work and your absolutely right on all the problems it causes. Your not alone on that cause we go through the same thing here too. It does suck telling people u can't rent to them just because they live in the area but he shouldn't have lied. I wouldn't have rented to his after that either
